  1. What is SPS?

SPS is a proxy system that provides the facility and security in web surfing. It includes a proxy server and a mail server.

  2. What does SPS stand for?

    Super Proxy System.

  3. Why should I use SPS?

When you surf the internet to read the news, make purchase or take some other actions, are you aware that your preference and some other personal information about your identity have been collected and stored in the database of some companies? Cookie and web bug release your information.
But in some cases you are volunteerly providing personal data, how? When you register a form on the webpages. For example, New York Times(www.nytimes.com) requires that readers fill in a registration form before accessing any article page. This form includes your address, age, income, occupation, etc. Although you can fill in the form with faked data, it will cause trouble whenever you come to this site. Considering there are lots of such occasions, we believe a tool is necessary to help do this job.
All the above leads to SPS.

  4. What functions does SPS provide?

For the time being, the main function is automatically filling in the form. We have left several interfaces for future developments. More functions will be added such as filtering pop-up windows, stopping javascript, etc.

  5. What do I need in order to run SPS?

SPS is built completely in Java, so it can run in Windows, Unix/Linux and Mac.
To run SPS, jdk1.4 is necessary. Users can download it from http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4/download.html free of charge.

  6. How stable/reliable is SPS?

Several users have run SPS in their computes for several months. Lots of bugs have been found and fixed.
For the time being, SPS doesn't support HTTPS and HTTP 1.1.
